چکیده

Transport and magnetic properties near a field-induced orientation phase transition sOPTd from the easy to the hard axis in the magnetization of antiferromagnetically coupled epitaxial fFe/Crs100dg10 multilayers have been studied. It was found that in the vicinity of the OPT both the amplitude of the magnetic susceptibility anomaly and the relaxation rate of the magnetoresistance change dramatically below a few Kelvin. These observations, together with the previously observed strong reduction of zero-field magnetic losses at temperatures below 5–7 K, indicate a qualitative transformation of the magnetic dynamics in Fe/Cr multilayers at very low temperatures. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. fDOI: 10.1063/1.1847992g

Giant Magnetoresistance and Spin Valves I Ming Mao, Chairman Magnetic scattering in Fe–Cr multilayers in the ferromagnetic state at low temperatures

We report here an interpretation of the electrical resistivity ~r! below 15 K of two Fe–Cr multilayers ~30 layers of 20 Å Fe/10 and 12 Å Cr! produced by Xe ion-beam sputter deposition. These multilayers have a negative giant magnetoresistance ~GMR! of ;21% at 4.2 K and Hsat 513 kOe. Very high-resolution resistance measurements ~better than 3 ppm! were made down to 2.3 K at every (100610) mK. Ex...

Low frequency magnetic response in antiferromagnetically coupled Fe/Cr multilayers.

The magnetic field and temperature dependence of the low frequency magnetic response of antiferromagnetically coupled Fe/Cr(100) multilayers has been studied between +/-500 Oe, from 2 to 300 K. At T = 2 K the losses exhibit an unusually strong frequency dependence which can be described within a single relaxation time scheme. This relaxation time proves to be strongly field dependent. These phe...

Low-frequency response in the magnetic susceptibility of antiferromagnetically coupled Fe/Cr multilayers

The magnetic field and temperature dependence of the low-frequency ( fo104 HzÞ inand out-of-phase magnetic response of antiferromagnetically coupled Fe/Cr(1 0 0) shows that at T > 100K both the real ðw0Þ and imaginary ðw00Þ parts of the susceptibility exhibit hysteretic dependence on the magnetic field with maxima of w00ðHÞ at HE725Oe. At T 1⁄4 2K the losses exhibit an unusual strong frequency ...

Giant magnetoresistance of (001)Fe/(001)Cr magnetic superlattices.

We have studied the magnetoresistance of (001)Fe/(001)Cr superlattices prepared by molecularbeam epitaxy. A huge magnetoresistance is found in superlattices with thin Cr layers: For example, with rc, =9 A, at T =4.2 K, the resistivity is lowered by almost a factor of 2 in a magnetic field of 2 T. We ascribe this giant magnetoresistance to spin-dependent transmission of the conduction electrons ...

Correlation effects in Co / Cu and Fe / Cr magnetic multilayers

The electronic structure of Co/Cu(001) and Fe/Cr(001) magnetic multilayers has been investigated within the local density approximation combined with dynamical mean field theory. Our calculation shows enhanced density of states at the Fermi level, suggesting that electronic correlations might play an important role in the transport properties of multilayers.
